In January of 2020, VRBO/HomeAway began collecting and remitting Resort Tax for online bookings in the Big Sky Resort Area District. Since that time the Big Sky Resort Area District has negotiated a collections agreement with Airbnb to collect and remit the Resort Tax on behalf of Airbnb properties located within the District boundaries.

As of July 1, 2020, AirBnB is collecting and remitting Resort Taxes for all online bookings in the Big Sky Resort Area District. You will also receive an email from AirBnB with more information on the changes. Or you can visit the “Your Listings” page in your account to view more information on all taxes AirBnB is collecting, including rates, taxable amounts, and government(s) requiring the tax.

Please note: for any current reservations or any bookings taken through June 30, 2020, you must collect and remit the 3% resort tax through your MUNIRevs account. If the reservation is booked before July 1, 2020, and the stay takes place after July 1, 2020, AirBnb has not collected the Resort Tax.
