At the Joint County Commission and BSRAD Board Meeting on October 8, the BSRAD Board approved funding for Interlocal Government Grant requests as presented.
Big Sky’s interlocal agreements provide stable, multi-year funding to key government partners that deliver essential services such as public safety, transportation, parks, and infrastructure. While the current interlocal cycle (FY25–FY27) was established last year, two additional government entities submitted requests to be considered for inclusion in the remaining years of the cycle — both of which were approved.
Gallatin Canyon County Water & Sewer District
FY26: $200,000
FY27: $200,000
Funding will support legal, accounting, engineering, and administrative services that are not eligible for other grant programs, ensuring the District’s continued ability to manage reliable water and wastewater systems in the Canyon.
Firelight Meadows Water & Sewer District
FY26: $100,000
FY27: $150,000
Funding will help address failing septic systems that do not meet DEQ standards and pose environmental risks. This support launches planning and engineering work toward connecting Firelight to Big Sky Water & Sewer, protecting public health and the Gallatin watershed.
Through these partnerships, Resort Tax continues to invest in the infrastructure and operations that sustain Big Sky’s quality of life and long-term resilience.
